Ayurvedic Prakriti — Vata, Pitta or Kapha

Most prakriti quizzes ask how you feel today. This one reads your janma nakshatra, which does not change — each of the 27 birth stars belongs to Aadi, Madhya or Antya nadi, and those three are the Ayurvedic doshas Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

ଜନ୍ମ ସ୍ଥାନ

The nadi classification is the same one used in kundli matching, where sharing a nadi with your partner costs eight of the thirty-six gunas — the largest single penalty in the system. The reason given in the classical texts is constitutional: two people of the same nadi are held to be too alike physiologically.

A nakshatra-derived prakriti gives you your janma prakriti — the constitution you were born with. It does not describe your current state (vikriti), which shifts with season, diet, stress and age. An Ayurvedic physician reads both; this page gives you the fixed half accurately, which is the half a questionnaire cannot reach.

Questions

Is prakriti from nakshatra the same as a dosha quiz?

No. A quiz measures your present state, which changes. The nakshatra gives your birth constitution, which does not. Ayurveda distinguishes these as prakriti and vikriti, and a full assessment uses both.

Can I have two doshas?

Clinically yes — most people are dual-dosha. The nadi scheme assigns one, so read this as your dominant constitutional tendency rather than the whole picture.

Does this replace seeing a vaidya?

No. This is a classical calculation, not a diagnosis. Pulse reading, history and examination are what an Ayurvedic physician uses, and none of that can be done from a birth chart.

This is a classical astrological calculation, not medical advice. Nothing here diagnoses or treats illness. If something is wrong, see a doctor — the tradition itself prescribes remedies alongside treatment, never instead of it.
